Gaining a Sharper Focus
If we are to become like Jesus then we must have a sharper focus on our life and the lives around us. Throughout the day we are bombarded with messages from every conceivable media source. Most of those messages do not correspond to the teachings of Jesus, to the commandments of God. Each day we are asked or told to do this, buy that. The question is when these things are in our face what is our focus? Do we allow the world to lead us or do we seek to follow the living Christ in a world that is against Him? If we are to live the life God intended then we must have a sharper focus.
How often do we think of ourselves first, ahead of others? How many times to we spend out money on frivolous things and yet there are still people starving, not just around the world but in our own cities? When was the last time we asked a neighbor over to dinner, not to evangelize them but just to be a friend? When was the last time we made friends with a non-Christian?
This is not how Jesus lived or acted. This is not what He taught His disciples. Jesus had a sharper focus, He knew the Father’s will and lived His life accordingly. We live our lives according to our will. That is in direct opposition of God’s call on our life. Let’s all learn to have a sharper focus on the things that are important to the Father. Let’s begin a journey that will feed our soul as well as the souls of others, let us begin to have a sharper focus.
